Ohio River Trail Council Environmental Stewardship Project

Environmental stewardship is an ethic that embodies cooperative planning and management of environmental resources in which organizations and/or communities that actively engage both in the prevention of habitat loss and as well the facilitation of resource recovery and/or replenishment, usually with a focus on long-term sustainability. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), environmental stewardship is the responsibility for environmental quality shared by all those whose actions affect the environment. Environmental Stewardship is the careful and responsible management of natural and cultural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.

The Ohio River Trail Council (ORTC) is committed to operating its facilities in an environmentally responsible manner so as to conserve the existing resources, and to produce a better environment for our partner communities and for the public at large. Since our inception we have constantly strived to minimize the footprint we leave. We encourage our members and our communities to care for our wild places so we will all be able to enjoy them indefinitely.
