Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania Pine Creek Rail Trail

The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is also known as the Pine Creek Gorge and stretches for over 45 miles with depths of nearly 1500 feet.  It's dynamic topography creates many scenic wonders, including steep canyon walls and waterfalls. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon is part of the Tioga State Forest, beginning just south of Ansonia, PA, and continuing south to Waterville. A jewel of the Gorge is the Pine Creek Rail Trail voted by USA Today as one of the "10 great places to take a bike tour." The Pine Creek Rail Trail follows the east bank of Pine Creek and explores the belly of the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. It travels 57+ miles with a 2% grade over its entire length.  The trail travels through the Gorge starting in Ansonia and ending in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. The trail is a hard-packed gravel surface available to hikers and bikers. Riding or canoeing along the pristine Pine Creek you can experience wildlife sightings including nesting Bald eagles, wildflowers and seasonal cascades like colorful fall foliage.
